My name Hirak means diamond in Bengali, which is one of many languages spoken in India. As a child, I moved to South Carolina after my father relocated from England for better opportunities. I spent most of my childhood living in Spartanburg and graduated from Dorman High School. Throughout college, I spent my free time advocating for workers’ rights and fighting for a living wage for dining workers and wage theft (employers not paying their workers what they are legally owed). I didn’t originally plan to become an attorney but I always knew I wanted a career where I could help people. For law school, I went to the University of South Carolina. This is why I am still a GameCock fan even when the football team loses more games than it wins.
In the fall of 2017, I joined a law firm that focused primarily on Social Security disability cases and appeals to the Federal District Court. At the time, Social Security was new to me because they didn’t offer any disability law classes.. However, I had the privilege of learning from an attorney who was experienced in handling disability claims. During my time at the firm, I successfully obtained benefits for more than one hundred claimants at disability hearings in front of judges. Prior to the hearing, I would contact doctors to ask them questions about whether my clients were disabled and the functional reasons they were unable to work. While my firm focused on disability claims, I also represented workers’ comp claimants and successfully obtained settlements.
In July 2023, I opened the doors to Pati Law Firm, focusing primarily on Social Security disability cases. I wanted to advocate for clients who need these benefits because they provide access to healthcare and the money needed for life’s necessities (food, water, and shelter). My mission is (1) to make sure that you are treated like a person, not a case number, throughout the time you are with our firm and (2) to get the best result I possibly can for your case.
In my free time, I enjoy attending CrossFit classes. I also occasionally pick up a tennis or Pickleball racquet. I also like meeting new people and eating great food, especially tacos.
